Tre sguardi, tre luoghi, tre momenti.
Arles. Venezia. Los Monegros. La casa di un’aristocratica che ha rinunciato a tutto per diventare una difenditrice del paesaggio veneto. La « parquematización » dei canali di Venezia. Tarascon. Una spiaggia in Bretagna.
Durante due anni, i fotografi Paule Monset, Marika Giuriola e Paulo Cacais hanno viaggiato attraverso Francia, Italia e Spagna alla ricerca del minimo comune denominatore che ci permette di riconoscerci nei nostri paesaggi.
Il progetto comprende più di 300 immagini dei tre artisti. Nessuno di loro si firma. Discernere quale sguardo c’è dietro lo scatto di ognuno di loro è inutile. Monset, Giuriola e Cacais mettono in discussione i concetti di autorialità rifiutando di mettere nomi e cognomi alle fotografie, rifugiandosi in un nuovo paradigma che sta riemergendo in ambito artistico: la creazione collettiva.
Il nucleo fondamentale della serie di fotografie presentate di seguito è la rappresentazione del territorio. Attraverso il paesaggio, l’attraversamento delle culture e dei tempi, gli artisti riflettono su ciò che ci unisce, ciò che sta alla base di ogni essere umano e ci rende eterni.
In un momento di rinascita del nazionalismo, della ricerca della differenza, Cacais, Monset e Giuriola lanciano una proposta di fratellanza.
Nelle loro immagini è impossibile decifrare se il paesaggio è una casa nascosta nella campagna veneta, le strade polverose di un villaggio de Los Monegros o l’orizzonte infinito della Bretagna. Attraverso il singolare, il dettaglio, i tre fotografi offrono allo spettatore la chiave per riconoscere l’universale, ciò che ci rende uguali al di là delle frontiere, delle lingue o delle fedi.
Profondamente evocative, le immagini propongono anche un viaggio circolare intorno all’esperienza umana stessa.
Three views, three places, three moments.
Arles. Venice. Los Monegros. The house of an aristocrat who gave up everything to become a defender of the Venician landscape. The parquetry of Venice’s canals. Tarascon. A beach in Brittany.
Over the course of two years, photographers Paule Monset, Marika Giuriola and Paulo Cacais have travelled through France, Italy and Spain in search of the lowest common denominator that allows us to recognise ourselves in our landscapes.
The project includes more than 300 images by the three artists. None of them are signed. To discern which gaze is behind the trigger of each one of them is useless. Monset, Giuriola and Cacais question the concepts of authorship by refusing to put names and surnames to the photographs, taking refuge in a new paradigm that is re-emerging in the artistic sphere: collective creation.
The fundamental core of the series of photographs presented below is the representation of territory. Through the landscape, the crossing of cultures and times, the artists reflect on what unites us, what underlies every human being and makes us eternal.
At a time of resurgence of nationalism, of the search for difference, Cacais, Monset and Giuriola launch a proposal of brotherhood.
In their images it is impossible to decipher whether the landscape is a house hidden in the countryside of the Veneto, the dusty streets of a village in Los Monegros or the infinite horizon of Brittany. Through the singular, the detail, the three photographers offer the viewer the key to recognise the universal, that which makes us equal beyond borders, languages or creeds.
Deeply evocative, the images also propose a circular journey around the human experience itself.
